Viktor actually enjoys* going to the hospital, thanks to the always caring and friendly staff and the legendary lekterapi team Mats & Helena!

Pappa-V managed to donate some blood earlier than planned so somebody gets a refill in exchange :-) As V's Hb value was above the transfusion level, he was rescheduled first for Monday in a week. Now it's changed for friday this week as Uppsala didn't have any more blood for him next week and they want to use the bag they have in Falun. Fine with us of course!

(ug/L, ref.: 7-140)Good day at Falu hospital with blood transfusion and eye checkup. As Desferal medicine can potentially affect eye sight as well as hearing, V has annual check-ups. He is not a fan of the eye exam as the eye drops sting a bit, and he was quite frightened of the device which measures the eye pressure with a vibrating ball in front of the eye ball. But at the end, he really enjoyed all the cool new machines they have there. We also has a walk through the park and a sausage in the sun during the appointments :-)

( INR, ref. l )V's been on Waran for more than a year and due to stop the treatment. It was agreed to have an MRI scan again (his third in Falun) to establish a bit of a baseline and to make an informed judgment on stopping the blood thinner treatment.
V is well versed in the preparation for getting a PVK (peripheral venous catheter) in his hand or arm, as he has one about once a month for blood transfusions. This time, the MRI and the blood transfusion coincided so the same one could be used both for administering the anesthetics as well as the later blood transfusion

Four weeks old today!
We can't believe it's been four weeks already! Hopefully, we are halfway through our wait to take this cute little guy home with us! :-D
The blood transfusion we reported last week did the trick and gave Viktor the extra boost he needed. He reached 1620g today and this week's milestone was drinking his meal from a bottle! He started off earlier in the week drinking 15ml and then having the rest via the enteral tube, but for the first time yesterday Viktor drank 35ml in one sitting! He got very tired afterward - learning all this new stuff is very hard work! So it was back on with the mask for a nice rest. :-) He is needing the mask less and less as time goes by, however, which is great progress in itself!
